At the dinner table last night, the subject came up of heavy sleeping/light sleeping.
Steve’s a heavy sleeper and I’m a light sleeper. I like to read before falling asleep…and I have no pity for Steve complaining about the light remaining on because he can fall asleep within one minute. (Sometimes even less than a minute! That is not an exaggeration. It is a documented fact.)
So my two sons were listening to this conversation. The 17-year-old said, “Man, Dad. You’re so lucky. I wish I could fall asleep that easily. I have trouble falling asleep in different places.”
My older son asked him, “Huh? What do you mean?”
My 17-year-old responded (yes, he actually said this!): “Well, like, in English class. I tried to sleep and just couldn’t.”
Better English class than his girlfriend’s. . . . LOL
I kept dozing off during a Biology final my freshman year in college. It was my last one, I had pulled an all-nighter, it was impossibly hard, and for some weird reason they scheduled it in the ROTC rifle range. Just set up tables in the middle of the room, holes in the walls all around us. Bizarre. I was so glad to be done with that test and that class!
Thanks for sharing the laugh!
Suzanne, the Doctor who started Medic Alert was a friend and classmate of my dad’s. At my dad’s funeral, I read what Dr. Johnson (who wasn’t a doctor then, obviously) wrote in his senior yearbook. It said and I quote,”Sam, you’re a great inspiration to the class when you’re not asleep.” So tell Tad, sleeping in class has been going on for ages! I’m sure dad slept through many English classes!
