Late last night, my mom called from across the street. She had fallen and couldn’t put any weight on her hip, so we’re heading over to the emergency room with her for an X-ray.

I’ve been going back and forth between the two houses all morning–getting Mom coffee, breakfast, newspaper, etc. She isn’t in pain as long as she remains immobile.

My husband was kind enough to take Dad to church this morning. That’s part of the dilemma…Mom’s health has a domino effect on Dad. His respite care programs are closed for the holidays…so each day is a new challenge of what to do with an anxious, restless man with Alzheimer’s.

I had forgotten to get the mail yesterday, so picked it up as I crossed the street.

On the top of the stack was a jury summons for me.

Sigh.
