Last month I got to go to Salt Lake City and Loved it. It is such a nice city.. But next month my husband and I are going with some of his family members down to the Smokey Mountains. We are renting a big cabin. I think it will be lots of fun
Salt Lake City is on my to-do list, Denise. Bet the Smokey Mt. trip will be wonderful. Let me know if it should go on my travel list! Suzanne
Going up to the mountains of western NC. It’s beautiful in the fall, when the leaves are changing colors. Going hiking and taking in the scenic views are breathe taking.
My niece is going to be moving to NC soon, LeAnn. I plan to visit!! Hope we might get to meet, face-to-face, one of these days.

Every year since my son was conceived we have taken a family trip to St. Louis to watch a Cardinals game. I hope that when he turns 18, I can have a picture with him all the way back to him being in the womb. We try to take the picture in the same place so we can see the progression. It would make an awesome collage. So our summer trip will be heading back to St. Louis. This will be our fourth annual St. Louis trip.
Nice, Kevin! Hope your son is as crazy about baseball as my two boys. One is a Giants fan, the other is an A’s fan. Battle of the Bay around here.

Hi Suzanne! I am a subscriber of your blog and newsletter and love keeping up with your writing and all you are doing! We always enjoy traveling in the fall and are thinking about November for our trip this year. We haven’t decided which direction we will head yet. We always enjoy the journey just as much as the destination!

Well, we’ve be doing mini vacations. We’ve gone to Lake Chautauqua 3 nights this summer, not overnight! We are about 1 1/2 hours away and go for a show and some fishing and come home…

2) the best vacation was to Door County WI with our two youngest daughters. They left me at the cottage to read while they went afternoon shopping for my surprise. Fresh-picked that morning Door County cherries we had fun doing at the orchard together and non-pitted cherry pie! I let them know it was delicious!! And I enjoyed hearing them prepare it in the little kitchen.
I would love a copy of Amish Values for Your Family. Wanting to win, for sure!

My favorite vacation was to Cape May New Jersey. Touring the area and seeing so many Victorian mansions was quite enjoyable. Of course spending time on the beach was an added bonus.

I haven’t went on vacation this summer…Last summer my son took us to the beach and it was special because my 7 year old grandson got to go with us.Two days after we got back home,his mom came and got him and we haven’t seen him since.
Oh Jackie…I hope you see your little grandson soon. A year is too long. Glad you have a nice memory together–he’s old enough to know how much you love him.

We haven’t been on a real vacation in awhile. I remember though growing up we used to take time in the summer to visit relatives in Georgia before we ended up moving there. It was a good way to get to know the area before we actually lived there. Fun times. I am a follower on your blog and newsletter.
I had a wondefrul retirement trip to Disney with my grandsons also a wonderful trip to mt sons . I had so much fun with my grandaughter
Our summer vacation was to Branson, MO with my parents, their foster kids (three 2-3 year olds), and my grandmother. My dad and I hit up a lot of quilt shops while there. For some reason he was determined I was going to buy one. I told him I would be more out to buy the fabric and make it myself then to buy one. =) We had fun checking out all the little shops anyway. We enjoyed Dixie Stampede and Silver Dollar City. While at the Sight & Sounds Theater watching the play Joseph I had to giggle when they read a scripture and my six year old finished it by giving where it’s found. It looks like that private school tuition is paying off. =)
My favorite part was spending a lot of quality time with my dad. Mom and I are close, but Dad… he’s dad. While mom took the tots back to the resort, Dad, my daughter and I stayed at Silver Dollar City and rode rides.
I was disappointed my husband couldn’t be with us. He’s currently serving a one year remote tour in the sandbox. I learned that even though we can have fun without him, it’s just not the same as when he’s with us.

We didn’t get to take vacations when I was little but I remember waiting with great anticipation for our yearly trip to the Boom. The Boom was a wide spot in the creek that had been roped off for swimming. A little park with swings, see-saws, a merry-go-round, and slides was on the bank of the creek. Mom would tell us during breakfast that we could go swimming after lunch, those few hours between breakfast and lunch were the longest hours of the year.
Our daughters were ages 6 & 3 their grandma had recently passed away & we decided to take them on a trip.
My husband worked in NYC until around 11 PM. He had taken the train to work & The children & I were to pick him up. All they knew was we were going to visit friends in Georgia. So late at night we set out on our journey. My husband drove until early morning then I took over. One of our car tires had a blowout & we were detoured to get a new tire. We stopped in the evening in Georgia & spent the evening in the hotel swimming pool, slept the night & started out again the next morning. We drove & drove, the kids were great in the car & still thought they were going to meet Dads computer friends. Then they spotted the sign, Susie, the oldest read the sign WELCOME TO FLORIDA. She yelled Christina, We’re going to Disney World!!! Really mom, my husband & I laughed & said yes, we are going to Disney World. I think they had the best suprise of their lives. They had a GREAT first trip to Disney World & we did too.
I’ve had a great summer of family vacations and its not over yet! I retired one year ago yesterday, after almost 50 yrs at age 66 1/2. I have lucky enough to travel to several states to visit: Indiana, Arizona, Florida (seaworld is the best and Legoland), Georgia and Kansas. On August 10, I am off to Alaska for the 14 days land and cruise trip of a lifetime. Plus I’ve also worked with my church cooking for volunteers doing disaster relief in New York 3 different times……I am a blessed woman! I am a lifelong reader and devour Amish books and would love to receive your latest giveaway!
This year we decided to do a “stay-cation”. We have so many interesting places in our area, so we thought, “why not be tourists in our own area?” So we did things in our own area that we have never done before. We took in our first ever Erie Sea Wolves game (minor league baseball) and got hooked! We’ve gone several times now 🙂 In fact, they’ll be in the playoffs!!! The absolutely, most fun we had, was spending hour-upon-hour helping a dear friend break the Guinness World Record for the longest Ferris Wheel ride at a local amusement park. We were official witnesses for the event, but never realized that it meant we weren’t just to watch and verify that the rules had been followed, but that it meant we HAD TO RIDE ALONG! I’ve never rode a Ferris Wheel for so many hours before. It was a blast. The weather was the biggest challenge – there was even some freezing rain involved!! It was the coldest weekend we’d experienced since the depths of winter. The memories of this event will forever be one of the best, most exciting things ever. The only thing that topped it…my daughter being taken under the wing of this friend, who is now her ‘dad-like’ figure. She was nominated as a “Good Kid” by our local t.v. news station and was honored at a picnic/baseball game. She invited him to be her guest because ‘what kid doesn’t want to see a baseball game with a dad (or ‘dad-like’ figure). Not only did he attend, but he told her that he truly loves her, like one of his own children. (My daughter’s dad passed away unexpectedly when she was an infant). We’ve had such a touching, wonderful summer 🙂
