I’m so excited to announce that on Saturday, August 24, (next weekend!), Sarah Sundin and I will be hosting a writers’ workshop entitled Possible Paths for Aspiring Writers and The Business Side of Writing. We’ll be hosting it at the Barnes & Noble in Antioch, California, so if you’re in the area at 2:00 p.m., please stop by! More event details can be found here.
We’ll also be signing books, which leads me to this week’s Friday fun question: If you could get a book signed by any author, living or dead, whom would you choose and what book would you have signed?
I’ll be giving away a copy of Amish Values for Your Family to one person who does the following and tells me in a comment below:
- That he or she has signed up for my blog
- The answer to the above question
I’ll announce the winner next Friday! Good luck.
Speaking of winners, thank you to everyone who volunteered to spread the word about The Letters. The winners are Brandy Oliver and Ramona Schlaegel! Please email your mailing addresses to info@suzannewoodsfisher.com to claim your prize!

I would love to have the book MARK TWAIN signed by Samuel Clemens.
Oh…that would be AWESOME, Christine W!
I love the Little House books. An autographed book by Laura would be awesome. I have probably read them 20 or 30 times. Second runner up would be The author of Nancy Drew Mysteries. I have some really old ones from the 30’s and they were also among my favorite books growing up.
Bet you were a voracious reader as a little girl, Doreen.
I am signed up for your blog. I think I would like any book signed by either Ruth Bell Graham or Billy Graham. I read several of Ruth’s books, and I’ve read one or two from Mr. Graham. It would be an honor to have a signed book from either.
Thanks for the giveaway!
Connie R.–I have a picture in my living room of my grandfather standing next to Billy Graham. They had worked together when Christianity Today was just getting going. Treasured pix!
There are two authors that I had never met or had autogragph my books. Suzznne Woods Fisher and Amy Clipston. Question for Suzanne what inspired you to write about them Amish and how many communities have you visited.
The Book would be The Letters.
Hi Leann! My grandfather was raised “Plain” (Old Order German Baptist…cousins to the Amish)…so that’s how my connection began. And as for the communities I’ve visited…I think I’ve been to over ten so far. Lots more to go! Planning to get to Iowa and Illinois communities next spring. And someday I’d love to get up to Canada.
And grinning at your “Letters” mention, Leann!
I have signed up for the blog (I think I did before anyway!) I would love to have Laura Ingalls Wilder autograph her books.
Yup! Another fave. Wouldn’t it be nice to have known her, Lisa W.?
Harper Lee to sign her book, To Kill a Mockingbird.
Oh Michelle…one of my very favorites. LOVE the movie, too.
Caddie Woodlawn by Carol Brinks
I loved Caddie Woodlawn too!
Corrie Ten Boom…just to meet her would have been awesome! Thanks for the opportunity to win! Linda
So true, Linda! What an impact Corrie Ten Boom made on the world.
Of course, I am all signed up! I would love to have The Letters with your beautiful autograph and I have my fingers crossed for Amish Values for Your Family. I think it would be a most helpful and beneficial book and I certainly need all the help I can get. Thank you !
Hi Melanie! Thanks for your encouraging words! Hope you win! Suzanne
How could I choose? There are so many authors I admire. I suppose “Lord of the Rings” is the first one that comes to mind.
Oh yeah, and I already subscribe to your blog! (I wouldn’t mind an autographed copy of one of your books either. ) 🙂
Hope you win one, Wendy! I do a lot of giveaways here…so keep trying. And thank you for your kind words!
Someday – I WILL meet some of the people that wrote the books of the bible, including my Lord.
Thanks for the opportunity to win the book!
Love that thought, Bonnie!
When I am asked what my favorite book is I always respond the same. To Win Her Heart by Karen Witemeyer. There is just something about that book and I never have to think about it when someone asks. Thank you for the giveaway!

Chronicles of Narnia – C.S. Lewis

Of course I would very much love to have an autographed copy of one of your books!
If I were to go back in time I would choose either Shakespeare of Dickens. Shakespeare because I just love it. I have tickets for Othello in September when it is being beamed over live to a theater here in the US from London and the National Theatre Live. Check and see if they beam their plays over to a theater near us. Last one they did was The Audience with Helen Mirren which was just incredible. I dragged my kids to see Shakespeare at the state university all the time when they were kids and one of them all grown up is now directing and acting in a Shakespeare in the Park this summer. I just love the use of language in his plays. And Dickens is my #2 choice for a historical person. I worked with my youngest on one of his books and when we really got into looking up the exact meaning of so many words I was rolling on the floor. So often the second or third meaning was a comedic comment or inference. I really should take those books apart. However, I came away with a great admiration for his knowledge and use of the language.
