Tell us a little about your new book . . .
A jilted bride desperate to save her family from ruin. A bounty hunter seeking vengeance for a ravaged past. An arduous trek toward justice—or redemption.
Silver Matlock and Jared Newman know traveling together is a bad idea. Bad for Silver’s already tarnished reputation in her small Colorado town. Bad for bounty hunter Jared’s secret, single-minded mission for revenge. But Silver is determined to track down the rogue who left her at the altar and stole the last remnant of her father’s fortune. And Jared’s in a hurry to hunt down the murderer who destroyed his family—even if Silver is too distractingly beautiful for comfort.
The pair takes off over mountain and desert, past bleak homesteads and raw mining towns, hot on the trail of the two villains who took what wasn’t theirs to take. Soon supplies dwindle, secrets emerge, and suspicion leave Silver and Jared at odds when they need each other most. To confront an enemy deadlier than desert rattlesnakes and rocky cliffs, Silver and Jared must learn to forgive and trust and face the question they haven’t dared voice: What happens next?
How can readers find you and your books?
I love the opportunity to interact with readers in person and via the Internet (email, my website & blog, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Goodreads). The best way for readers to know about book news, including frequent giveaways, is to subscribe to my newsletter which I send out six to eight times a year and also subscribe to get my blog posts via email. My blog posts are always the fastest way to get news. Readers can find subscription boxes and links to my social media sites on my website, robinleehatcher.com.
Anything new for you on the book horizon?
Yes! In June, I have a new novella collection releasing. Four Weddings & a Kiss, written by Margaret Brownley, Mary Connealy, Debra Clopton, and me, just received a TOP PICK review from RT Book Reviews. The novellas are available separately on ebooks, but I encourage readers to get the collection because there is a prologue and an epilogue that tie the stories together. Readers won’t get those in the individual novellas.
And in November, I take readers back to the setting of A Promise Kept in my new Kings Meadow Romance series. The first book is Love Without End. I think readers will be delighted to see Chet Leonard as the hero. I owed him a happily-ever-after of his own.
Why do you write?
I write because I was born to tell stories, and my favorite stories to tell are ones that include God and His relationship with my characters.
What are you best known for…writing or otherwise?
As a writer, I believe I’m best known for making readers cry. And among my friends, I’m often thought of as the go-to person if you don’t know how to do something with a Mac or on the Internet/Social Media.
Best author moment?
When a writer lets me know that one of my stories touched their heart.
Worst author moment?
Oh, dear. It has to be an error that no one caught in a book back in my secular career. The hero and heroine of the first book in the series were Addie and Will. In the second book they were Rose and Michael. About halfway through that second book, the chapter ended with Rose and Michael, now married, going to bed. In the next chapter, when the couple awakens the following morning, I mistakenly typed the husband’s name as Will instead of Michael. No one ever caught it through the entire editing process. After the book released, I started getting letters. When I got the first one telling me about the error, I remember saying, “Oh, that can’t be true.” But it was.
If you weren’t able to write, what would you do?
I would become a horse trainer. Or an actress. Or I would be an actress who also trained horses.
Describe your ideal circumstances to write.
Mornings in my office with a hot cup of coffee within reach of my right hand. Music playing softly in iTunes. Dog sleeping in her bed nearby.
Right this moment, what does your office look like?
Like a tornado passed through it in the night. Far too many piles of papers that I’ve promised myself I will read.
How would you describe your writing style to a reader?
Emotional, heart-tugging, hope-filled.
If you could write any book–on any topic–and be guaranteed a publishing contract, what topic would it be? (Or genre?)
There is a story inspired by a country song that I was writing back when the economy went into decline. It was thought a bit dark at the time, but I hope I get to return to it someday.
Ever had a bad review? How did you handle it?
Oh, gracious. Is there any writer who hasn’t received a bad review? I got a letter from a reader who had thrown one of my books in the trash because the protagonist received a marriage proposal from a divorced man. (The protagonist didn’t accept the proposal.) The tone of the letter helped me realize that readers bring their own hurts and experiences into the books they read, and when they react harshly, I need to pray for them.
What’s one thing you learned about the publishing industry in last five years?
Well, in the last five years, the main lesson is that no one knows what publishing will look like next year. I’ve been published for over thirty years, and for most of that time, publishing looked the same as it always had. That’s no longer true.
Are you an introvert? Extrovert? In between?
Extreme Extrovert. As high on the scale as those tests go.
Do you enjoy public speaking as an author? Why or why not?
Yes, I love public speaking. It is part of the storyteller in me.
Can a person make a living as a writer?
Most of us aren’t rich like Stephen King or Nora Roberts, but yes, one can make a living as a writer. I have been the sole or main breadwinner in the family for over twenty years.
What are you working on now?
I am currently writing the second book in the Kings Meadow Romance series. It will release in May 2015.
Any last thoughts to share?
Simply to repeat how very much I appreciate hearing from readers.

I would love to win a copy of her book.
I’m surprised that Mrs. Hatcher is an extreme extrovert as a writer! That breaks my mental category that most writers are private people who just share a glimpse of their lives and who hide behind their laptops, FB profiles…..give an interview or two every few months……I’m glad Robin is open to sharing herself with all of us! I loved this interview with her and I feel like I know her so very well, she sounds like me! There’s hope that I will write soon because both of you Susan and Robin INSPIRED me today!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love you both! I hope to win her book, this sounds like fun to read!!! 🙂

Love your writing
Robin Lee Hatcher, is an amazing author. I can’t wait to read The Heart’s Pursuit! I’m a writer as well, but I’m mostly introverted unless I’m drawn to get into a conversation. It really just depends on the situation. I’m mostly to myself unless I’m with family and friends.
love your work
Thank you for the great review of Robin. she is one of my favorite authors .
I can’t wait for her new releases.
Thank You
Look forward to reading all your books. Great interview.

Loved this interview/conversation. Thank you for the chance to win a copy of The Heart’s Pursuit 🙂
I love how enthused Robin is about her writing and about her characters. It makes me want to read her books. I’d love to win one!
Thank you for this opportunity.
Thanks for such a wonderful interview I would love to read Robins book.
It was interesting getting to know a little about Robin!
It’s interesting that you used the wrong husband’s name in a book and no one caught it (before publication.) I have noticed the same thing in a couple of books I have read. I think writer’s get so immersed in their character’s lives that it is hard to switch gears when starting a new project.
Have loved all of Robin’s books!! Great interview! Good perspective on bad reviews! Looking forward to The Heart’s Pursuit… as well as the follow-up to A Promise Kept! Thanks for the giveaway!
looks great
Robin is one of my authors that I don’t need to know what the book is about, I just know I like her writing and I’ll read it! Would love to win this book then put in our church’s media center. Great interview. And I can’t believe no one caught the characters names changing throughout the book, funny story!
It’s always fun to read about different authors and their interests. I get to work with horses all summer at a camp. I wish I had Robin’s experience to help me!
Looks and sounds like another great book.
Sounds great! Would love to read it.
