“I believe in getting into hot water. I think it keeps you clean.” ~G.K. Chesterton
Gilbert Keith Chesterton was an Englishman of considerable girth, who had a brilliant sense of humor and an absent-mindedness that bordered on legendary. He never went to college and yet is considered the best writer of the twentieth century.
This was the man who wrote a book that led a young atheist named C. S. Lewis to become a Christian.
This was the man who wrote a novel that inspired Michael Collins to lead a movement for Irish independence.
This was the man who wrote an essay in the Illustrated London News that inspired Mohandas Gandhi to lead a movement to end British colonial rule in India.
Chesterton considered himself to be an ordinary man. He claimed that he was doing nothing more than uttering plain, simple truths.
Simple truths can change the world.

Oh to make such a difference! I wonder if Chesteron ever knew? It makes me think that if we can discern God’s voice and follow Him, He can do mighty things whether we know about it or not.
