Yesterday was one of those perfect California spring days. Temperature was just oh-so-right, the bugs hadn’t woken up yet from winter, the air was soft.

I was out on the deck getting some work done, feeling…well, just feeling grateful.

My college son, home for spring break, popped his head out the sliding door and said, “Bye Mom, I’m off to the dentist for my appointment.”

I waved goodbye and went back to my work. After a few minutes, the phone rang and I hurried to answer it inside…only to discover that my son had accidentally locked me out of the house.
