On a late summer morning, as the sun streamed through the window, I sat at my desk and stopped for a moment. I heard a radio blasting a popular song through the hallway, muffled sounds of my daughter talking on her cell phone in her bedroom, the washing machine rumbling in the laundry room.
The sounds of an ordinary morning made a catch in my heart. I knew it wasn’t going to last. Change is around the corner. My daughter will be leaving for college soon and those noises will move with her.
It was just that for one moment, I stopped, paused, and really soaked up the sweet ordinariness of family life.
Too rare, too rare.

That’s so precious Suzanne!
My daugther is away doing missionary work and I miss the “sweet ordinary” of her presence.
Enjoy this season, and the next!
not that anything that happens here in my house is “ordinary”- but I miss whatever happens on a daily basis. Our two daughters are away at college and life is quiet. I look forward to their next visit!
