My family spent four years living in Hong Kong, a country that didn’t celebrate Thanksgiving, for obvious reasons. Ever since, I have had such a great appreciation for this special day. I like having it at home, where we can have that all day turkey smell. Who doesn’t love those once-a-year food specialties–yams, stuffing, rich gravy! And I treasure looking at faces I love around the table.
Funny thing is that it seems as if America is paying less attention to this holiday. As I tried to shop for Thanksgiving-themed paper plates or candles…I could only find Halloween or Christmas decorations. Very little in between.
But…we should never let thankfulness get crowded out.
Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving Day. I wanted to let you know that I had my 12 year old read Copper Star and she loved. It was so nice to be able to share a book with my daughter.
