Last night at dinner, my husband asked my eldest son, “What is Mom’s favorite color?”

“Green!” said my son.

“Why do you think green?” I asked him.

“Uh, I thought you said green was a good color for chalkboards.”

It’s true. I did say that one time. Once.

So then my son called my daughters, asking them, “What is Mom’s favorite color?”

“Blue!” answered one daughter. “Most of her clothes are blue.”

“Blue!” answered the other daughter. “Periwinkle blue.”

My husband and my son looked at each other as if they still weren’t quite sure about the answer.

So then they asked my youngest son. “Blue!” he answered.

“How do you know that for sure?”

“Her dog is named Azure and she loves that name.”

HOW do husbands (and sometimes sons) have a knack for missing the obvious?
