I’m working on a magazine article about trying to re-capture Sunday. Do you have any tips? Ideas that have worked for you to keep that day less…hectic? Less like every other day of the week?
Please e-mail me or leave a comment on what has worked for you. Thank you!
Aside from going to church in the mornings,on Sunday I love taking time off from laundry and running errands and paperwork…I just don’t do those things Sundays. Knowing those particular things (which seem to never be completely finished)are set aside for one day makes for a slower, calmer day that feels very different. Gives me time to read or garden or chat with the neighbors. Also, as much as we can, we take time off from kids activites – thankfully we have not been in a position where our kids had regular practices or games on Sundays. I shoot for making dinner a bit earlier, and often invite family or friends over to join us.
All those things make our Sundays different from the rest of the week.
Sunday in college is used for finishing all the last minute assignments that were set aside to enjoy the weekend! However, I had to roommates that always tried to finish homework the week before or on Saturday to set Sunday aside for church and friends. They both felt refreshed going into the new week instead of exhausted from craming too much in one day!
