Grit for the Oyster: 250 Pearls of Wisdom for Aspiring Writers, will be released on August 31st, 2008!
I wrote Grit with three other talented writers whom I met at the Mt. Hermon Writer’s Conference.
Grit has over 40 devotions, specifically targeted to new or aspiring writers, divided into four sections:
“Getting Started: Should I? Can I?”
“The Joyful Grind”
“I Quit! Too Many Rejections”
“Getting ‘It’ Right: the Proper Perspective”
To really gild the lily, we collected over 200 quotes from established authors, editors and publishers. Hot shots! Like Phil Callaway, Brandilyn Collins, Deborah Raney, Dr. Gary Chapman, Rene Gutteridge, on and on and on. We asked them for a piece of advice to give to an aspiring writer, something they wished they had known, years ago.
Their tips will be scattered in drop-in-boxes throughout the book. Each so varied and so helpful!
I’ll keep you updated on Grit in the next six months: cover art, pricing, where to buy, etc. Right now, we’re working on final edits.
This is the kind of book I wish I had read twenty years ago. It’s like having an encouraging mentor pull up a chair to your desk.
