For the last year or so, three writer friends and I have been working on a devotional for aspiring writers called Grit for the Oyster.
It includes 40 devotions, plus reflection questions, covering such topics as…the first spark that ignites a passion in writing…
…to wanting to quit because the rejection letters are coming too fast.
The icing on the cake is that we have garnered over 200 original quotes from established (living…not dead!) authors. We asked them: “What is one tip you wish someone had shared with you as you started to write professionally?” We received all kinds of generous responses back, even from hot shots! Phil Callaway, Dr. Gary Chapman, Deborah Raney, David Kopp…the list goes on and on!
So…last night, I signed and returned the contract to the publisher who has contracted Grit for the Oyster. Scheduled for release sometime in ’08!

Suzanne,
Congratulations on “Grit for the Oyster,” I love the title. I just finished Copper Star last night and I loved it. What a beautiful and inspiring story.
Hi Leticia!
Thank you for your comments…and for reading my story! So so glad you enjoyed it. Hope you’re surviving the county’s s-l-o-w paving schedule. Aiya! ~Suzanne
