My sister observed my dad’s adult day care program the other day.

During the current events period, when the woman who runs the program discussed news stories, Dad interrupted, announcing authoritatively, “Time for us to move along!”

His concern caused all of the men in the program (remember, they all are in various stages of Alzheimer’s) to look at their watches, suddenly alarmed.

“Joe’s right! We need to hurry up!” they all agreed, nodding to each other, as if they were running terribly late for an appointment with the Queen of England.

It took a moment or two for the leader to assure the men that they weren’t late…well, for anything, quite frankly… and that everything was under control.

No wonder my mother receives at least a once-a-week phone call from the day care program, politely complaining about Dad.
