My husband and two sons took Dad out on some errands on Saturday morning. Afterwards, they stopped for a quick lunch. My oldest son, Gary, was discussing a job offer he had recently received.

Dad: “Gonna take it?”

Gary: “Well, I’m thinking about it. I did hear that Karl Rove resigned so President Bush might be looking for a new deputy chief of staff. And Warren Buffett needs a new CEO to help him run his empire. So I might wait to see if I hear from them, first.”

Silence.

Dad: “I wouldn’t count on it.”
