I just finished a wonderful book that would be easy to overlook: “The House on Beartown Road” by Elizabeth Cohen.

It’s a memoir of a 40-year-old married woman who has had her first baby. Her mother (who sounds like a piece of work) sends her father to live with her (he is showing signs of Alzheimer’s disease).

After a few weeks, the author’s husband decides this is all too hard and he takes off. (Making everything only harder…)

The author is a columnist for a newspaper. I think this book might be a collection of columns…each chapter is poignant, sad, witty, and well-written.

More than anything, I take my hat off to this woman for just hanging in there!

Thank you to Margaret for recommending this book to me!
