What is the smartest writing advice you ever got?

Keep writing. Once you finish a book, start a new one, and build on the skills you learned in the last one. Dee Henderson told me that. (and she is right!)

What was your biggest break?

Being found on the slush pile by Anne Goldsmith Horch, at Tyndale House.

I’m inspired by…People who live beyond themselves for the good of others.

My great adventure has been…Being a mother. I love being a mother – but I never thought I wanted kids. I’m so thankful God chose for me!

The one thing I hope to discover is…that thing I fear most that keeps me from achieving what I long for. Not that I have deep unfound longings, but sometimes, you just know there is something you should know, or have, and you just can’t figure out why you haven’t gotten it yet, and you know you are the one holding yourself back, but you can’t figure out why. That dark, quiet, secret fear that you’ve buried so deep you can’t unearth it. Have you read Hinds Feet on High Places? There is a moment when that fear, that self, is ripped away from the heroine, and she is left with a pure heart, devoted to God. That’s what I’d like to find.

If I could go anywhere, it would be…Space.

If you have only…an hour…What, left to live? I get my family, and we hang out on some beach somewhere, watching the waves until I slip away. Or an hour to do anything? I’d spend it hanging out with my husband, just enjoying his company.

Describe yourself in one word. Curious.

If your house were on fire, what one thing would you save? Besides my laptop? 🙂 My family Bible.

What has been your most surreal, “pinch-me-I’m-dreaming” moment so far? Sky-diving over Monterrey California.

What drives you to succeed? I want to be a good steward of the gifts and skills God has given me. I don’t want to let anyone down.

Best Surprise. When my father showed up from 3 states away to watch my son, Peter, play football in the state playoffs.

Best Saturday Afternoon Read. Any book by Rachel Hauck.

Best Forgotten Custom. Sunday dinner.

Best Way to Break a Sweat. Swing Dancing!!

Best Style Icon. Audrey Hepburn. Grace Kelly.

Best Time-Waster. Grey’s Anatomy.

Best Indulgence. Popcorn with parmesan cheese.

Best Advice. Be the person you’d like to hang out with.
