I went to Fidelity Investments yesterday to transfer some money into my daughter’s account so she could pay her college tuition. While I was there, I asked the two guys who were helping me if they had seen the Saturday Night Live skit with Alec Baldwin that spoofed Fidelity. (See last Saturday’s blog post if you haven’t seen it.)

“Yup!” two guys said, both young, as they started cracking up.

Behind them were two large television screens tuned to yesterday afternoon’s financial earthquakes: the failure of the bailout to pass. As the two guys were doubled over laughing about the SNL skit, the television screen showed a zig zag line (a sharp descent) of the stock market tanking yesterday.

Oh my. One of those surreal moments.

Art imitating life? Or life imitating art?
