Another interesting stat:
If Christians were to tithe 10%, 140 billion dollars would be available for the work of the Lord.
The reason this has been on my mind lately is that my dad, who does not have a dollar in his pocket, can’t let that collection plate go by without adding to it. He pats down his pockets, looks through his empty wallet and frowns. Surreptitiously, my husband or I will slip him some cash to drop in the plate.
Even as Alzheimer’s ravages Dad’s mind, his heart is intact.
you have described my own father. He would do the exact same thing. When people react this way to the offering plate–it is character to who they have always been. When you are ill with Alzheimer’s, you don’t all of a sudden become an offering plate giver. Interesting factoid about this disease is that who they are in illness is a manifestation of who they were before the illness. God protects their hearts for him!
That is precious. Oh that we would all have our faithfulnenss so deeply ingrained.
140 billion… God gave us the power to change things, if only we would follow through!
