A year ago, in August, you might remember that my daughter, Meredith, went to China to teach at an international school. At the same time, a young man from Los Angeles, was boarding the plane to do the very same thing. Meredith and James met at the school in those first few days and hit it off right away. We could tell things were getting serious between them because her communication with home dropped drastically! She was always too busy to talk.
They both returned to California in June, and on August 1st, James proposed to Meredith! Underneath the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.
The morning of August 1st, as soon as James and Meredith left to head to the city, I went into high gear to decorate the house and get the celebratory meal ready. Remember, Meredith knew nothing.
James had kept us in the loop about his plans. His family had driven up from Orange County and were waiting at our house to surprise them.
We had our first special meal together with James’ family. The first of many, I hope.
So the wedding train is out of the station! Meredith and James plan to marry next summer.
Meredith went to China with the sole purpose of teaching school. God, in His goodness, has another gift in mind. And such a gift!
From one August to another, it’s amazing to think what a year can hold! Especially when we know Who holds the year.
