Saw this on Lysa TerKeurst’s Facebook page, and it struck a chord! Lysa is part of Proverbs 31, a wonderful organization that provides encouragement and inspiration to women. She is multi-talented, high energy woman who is a sought-after speaker and also a NYT bestselling author (Made to Crave and Unglued). Kinda nice to know she has cluttered closets, too.
Stuff is a Stealer by Lysa TerKeurst
Sometimes I let a pile of stuff sit in my house so long that I kind of become numb to it! My most recent pile was in my bedroom.
Somehow my bedroom had become a catch all for all these misplaced things. And do you know what I learned when I cleared all the things out that didn’t belong? Stuff is a stealer.
Having all that stuff in my room stole space that could be used for a bedroom that functions well. It stole my peace of mind. It stole a feeling of serenity. If I’d had any idea what I was allowing all that stuff to take from me, I would have cleared it out a long time ago.
Take it from this naturally disorganized woman who has seen the light at the end of the junk pile—cleaning it up is so worth the effort! Now I’m off to tackle the pile in my kitchen.

I am in the process of moving and I am doing all the lifting and transporting of most everything and I am seeing…really seeing how much stuff I have. It makes me sad how much of my life has been absorbed by stuff. :/
I am bombarded by stuff. You have given me the inspiration to tackle one pile at a time. I know I will be thrilled when I can see light at the end of the stuff tunnel.
I agree. I spent a month and a half this summer cleaning and organizing my apartment. I t was amazing how much I threw out and/or gave away. The feeling was so very cleansing. I am still fairly free of things at the moment. I still have things to go through but not like this summer. I am happier and I actually like going home after work. What a novel idea??? 80)
