The Heart of the Amish is now available, and I’m celebrating the whole month of May by sharing fun facts and bits of wisdom about the Amish and forgiveness. With that said, did you know . . .

The Amish believe that to forgive an enemy—so contrary to human nature—is to follow Jesus’s instructions on forgiveness, as well as His example. And they don’t just seek to forgive. They also love and bless those enemies.

The basic concept for The Heart of the Amish started during an interview of startling, radical forgiveness while I was hosting the radio program Amish Wisdom. I was stunned by this family’s reaction. Stunned, and then convicted. I pray that none of us will ever be confronted by the horrific event that this particular family endured. But how can we learn to forgive in big things if we don’t practice forgiveness in little things?

Let’s get the conversation started!

How have you been impacted by forgiveness?

Submit your story of forgiveness (250 words of less) to info {at} suzannewoodsfisher {dot} com. I’ll pick a story to share on my blog next week and the winner will receive a copy of The Heart of the Amish!

Note: To protect the privacy of those in your story, I will change names and other important details if necessary. Once you submit the story, you are giving permission to repost on my blog.
