“A grandmother is a little bit parent, a little bit teacher, and a little bit best friend.” ~Amish proverb
When my little granddaughter, Reagan Grace, turned three in August, I gave her twelve coupons for “Mimi Moments.” Once a month, I will take Reagan out for a planned outing: an ice cream cone, a cookie, something that includes sugar. And me.
This last week, when I drove up to Reagan’s house to pick her up, she was waiting on the porch. Her mom said she’d been chattering about her Mimi Moment all morning.
Time, I think, is the very best gift we can give our children and grandchildren.
During our visit, Reagan told me about her favorite snacks: cheese-y popcorn, watermelon, and pineapple. “So, Mimi,” she said in a firm voice, “we need to go to a cheese shop. Then to a popcorn shop. Then to a watermelon shop. Then to a pineapple shop.”
Ah! Sounds like next month’s Mimi Moment is all planned.
Precious moments. You both will make special bonds.
Precious Moments, Precious Memories! <3
Loved those years with our grands!
Enjoy ~ they grow up way too fast! Our youngest is 16 now, and sooooo busy!
So precious and creating sweet memories to cherish. Time is the best gift to give family members.
Wonderful. As the years go by, she will cherish the love and the memories, and just maybe will get her through a difficult day.
