Cameron photo pkWhat is the smartest writing advice you ever got?

Write your draft straight through—don’t stop to revise until it’s finished.

What was your biggest break?

I’ve been published for a long time, but feel I got my biggest break when Barbara Scott bought my first Amish series when she was senior acquisitions editor for Abingdon Press. I really love writing Amish fiction!

I’m inspired by…

The way God works in my life.

My great adventure has been…

Starting work as a newspaper reporter intern right out of high school.

The one thing I hope to discover is…

How to bring more balance into my life.

If I could go anywhere, it would be…

Scotland, land of my father’s ancestors.

If you have only…an hour…

If you mean it’s my last hour on earth, I would be letting my family know how much they mean to me.

Describe yourself in one word:

Curious.

If your house were on fire, what one thing would you save?

My laptop…after I gathered my pack of Chihuahuas.

What has been your most surreal, “pinch-me-I’m-dreaming” moment so far?

My first book sale and winning the first Romance Writers of America Golden Heart Award—both in the same year.

What drives you to succeed?

Gratitude that I have been given the chance to do the work I love.

Best Surprise:

Grandchildren! I have four.

Best Saturday Afternoon Read:A Road Unknown pk

A good romance.

Best Way to Break a Sweat:

Cleaning the house between book deadlines…

Best Style Icon:

(decorating) Martha Stewart.

Best Time-Waster:

A drive along the ocean or the river.

Best Indulgence:

Chocolate turtle candy.

Best Advice:

Believe in yourself and work hard.
