Welcome Lynette Eason author of Always Watching, to Author Spotlight! Keep reading to find out how you can enter to win a copy of her latest release.

Eason_LynetteIntroduce us to you as an author: When did you get bit with the writing bug?

I got bit probably around the eighth grade. I knew I wanted to write a book and tried, but gave up because it was too hard. However, my imagination was still quite active and I created stories in my head all the time. Later, after my first child was born, I finally sat down and started writing a story.

How would you describe your writing style? My style is mostly “seat of the pants” writing. I like to see what happens as I go. However, I’d love to be a plotter so am trying to see how that works for me. I think I may wind up somewhere in between—a plantser!

Tell us about your new release: Always Watching releases on February 2, 2016 and I’m super excited about it. It’s the first book in the new series and earned a 4.5 star TOP PICK rating from RT so I’m thrilled with that.

From Amazon:

The bodyguards of Elite Guardians Agency have more than just skill and prowess in common–they’re also all women. When it becomes clear that popular psychiatrist and radio personality Wade Savage has a stalker, his father secretly hires Elite Guardians in order to protect his son.

But when Wade’s bodyguard is attacked and nearly killed, agency owner Olivia Edwards must step in and fill the gap. Olivia’s skills are about to be tested to the limit as Wade’s stalker moves from leaving innocent gifts at his door to threatening those closest to him. Olivia has the feeling that she’s next on the list. And to complicate things even further, she realizes that her heart may be in as much danger as her client.

Bestselling author and fan favorite Lynette Eason drops readers right into the action in this fast-paced new series with a unique twist. Readers will love these strong female characters who put it all on the line to save lives.

How can readers connect with you online?

I’m on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, and my website is www.lynetteeason.com

Anything new for you on the book horizon?

Yes! After I finish the fourth and last book in the Elite Guardians series, I will begin working on the new series I’VE called Blue Justice. There will be four books in that series as well.

After you started writing seriously, how long was it before you were published?

Eight years.

Aside from a cup of good, strong coffee, what helps you get all of your “brain cylinders” firing so you can write well?

I’m a morning person. So, as soon as I wake up I’m ready to go. And I hate coffee. Love the smell, hate the taste. I don’t drink any caffeine at all, but I’m sure my chocolate consumption more than makes up for I don’t ingest coffee-wise.

Do you have any favorite places and routines when you write?

I love my kitchen table, my office, the recliner, the local café … any place will do for me. I’m not picky about that.

Do you prefer reading physical books or e-readers?

I prefer physical books, but use my iPad most of the time.

Why do you write?

Because I can’t NOT write. LOL.

What book have you reread the most?

I don’t reread. Ever. There are too many good books out there that I’ll already never have time for, but I sure don’t want to waste time rereading something I know the ending to when there’s fresh material to be consumed. I don’t watch reruns on TV either.

If you weren’t able to write, what would you do?

Maybe something in law enforcement.

Right this moment, what does your office look like?

A mess.

What book is on the top of your TBR pile?

Terri Blackstock’s If I Run, Ronie Kendig’s Embers, Colleen Coble’s Mermaid Moon, Dani Pettrey’s Cold Shot, Irene Hannon’s Thin Ice. I could go on. As you can see, I haven’t read much lately. I plan to rectify that as soon as I turn in this next book.

Ever had a bad review? How did you handle it?

Haha! Yes, I’ve had several bad reviews. I just shrug and keep going. I don’t let that kind of thing bother me. As long as my publisher is happy with me, I’m happy.

How do you solve a grammar dilemma?Always Watching-Book Cover

I belong to a group of writers who are smarter than I am. I just ask them.

What’s your favorite writing snack?

Chocolate. Or chocolate. And sometimes chocolate. Mostly M&Ms. Or Hershey Kisses. Or Rolos.

Can a person make a living as a writer?

Absolutely. I do.

What are your biggest distractions?

The internet, Facebook, shopping, sunshine, my dog.

What is the smartest writing advice you ever got?

Write a story for the market, not the book of your heart. Once you’re published you can write the book of your heart. {It worked for me.}

Who’s your favorite character you’ve written so far?

Probably Jamie Cash in Don’t Look Back. She overcame so much and never lost her faith in God. I love that about her.

Describe yourself in one word:

Driven.

Are you an introvert? Extrovert? In-between?

A total introvert.

If your house were on fire, what one thing would you save?

Besides my family and my dog you mean? My laptop.

What drives you to succeed?

I like to pay my bills on time. College tuition coming up. Those kinds of things.

My great adventure has been…

becoming a published author.

The one thing I hope to discover is…

what it’s like to live overseas.

If I could go anywhere, it would be…

to visit all the different places in the Caribbean like Belize and Panama and Ecuador.

Best surprise:

40th birthday party thrown by hubby.

Best Saturday afternoon read:

The latest thriller by one of my favorite authors.

Best indulgence:

A weekly massage
