If you haven’t had a chance to take a stroll around Amish Wisdom lately, here is a recap of what went on this week:
On Monday’s Book Nook, Kelly Long shared about her childhood memories of Ice Mine and the story behind her new release, The Amish Bride of Ice Mountain.
With the thermometer dipping lower each day, Pinecraft, Florida is the ideal place to visit during the long winter months. Lynette Sowell took readers on a tour of sunny Sarasota during Tuesday’s Traveler’s Tips.
A reader asked, “What is an Amish funeral like? Are there special elements involved that Englischers don’t observe?” on Wednesday’s Ask the Amish. The AW Amish Scribe answered and explained a look at a typical Amish funeral.
In yesterday’s Beyond Bonnets, Sarah Price delved into the strength and importance of Amish community in the midst of difficult times.
I can’t wait to see what scrumptious recipe is in store for today’s Cook’s Corner!

I’m new on this website and only started visiting yesterday. Can barely find my way around yet. I’m not familiar with Amish Wisdom yet although I will say that your post today looks very interesting so looking forward to getting acquainted with it. Very informative. I like that.
I would love to win the book Amish Values.
God Bless
Shirley
I really enjoyed reading about an Amish funeral. In our area, there is one Amish gentleman who is considered their undertaker because he is in charge of the funerals. He in turn works with my husband who is a licensed KY funeral home director.
Blessings!
Connie
Love reading about the different authors & their giveaways. I live near Lancaster Co., PA and am always interested in learning the differences between the different Amish communities, i.e. dress, different buggy styles, how they worship. Just learned today about an Amish community in Westville, AR. The Amish work for Tyson foods and live in non-Amish housing. Keep up the good work and thanks for the opportunity to win Amish Values for Your Family! Linda
I am new to this site also, but I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Pinecraft, FL. I have visited other Amish communities and hope to see the FL site sometime too. Reading about other Amish areas would be interesting for me, also. Thank you for the opportunity to win this book.
Saw the Monday Book Nook about Kelly Longs Bride Of Ice Mt then found the book Wednesday when I went to town. I finished it last night. Usually don’t find these Amish books very often in my local store. Love the book and enjoy the Amish Wisdom page.
I knew some basic facts about the Amish funerals, but didn’t realize that the funeral activities went on for several days. Do different church districts have different funeral customs?
