By now, most of you know that my dad passed away on the morning of January 1st, 2012.
Another friend, whose mother passed away this last summer from Alzheimer’s, wrote that he believed his mother was singing away in Heaven, and now she remembered all the words.
My friend Deb wrote that the thing about Alzheimer’s was that you lose a parent twice–first to the disease, second to the grave.
All so true.
When I told my friend Kim, her first response was: “The first blessing of the new year. Your dad is HOME.”
I am so grateful for my dad, for so many reasons. And grateful to God that Dad is released from a ravaging illness that had cost him so much. Grateful that I will see him again, fully restored. “First off, you must not carry on over them like people who have nothing to look forward to, as if the grave were the last word. Since Jesus died and broke loose from the grave, God will most certainly bring back to life those who died in Jesus”(1 Thessalonians 4:13, the Message).
So, Dad, I’m looking forward to our next conversation. I love you!
The death of a loved one is sad but happy. Sad because they are gone from us, but happy because of where they are and we WILL see them again!! Love and prayers to you.
Suzanne, Again i am sorry for your loss but its heavens gain. I said when my mom passed in April last year that God needed another angel and so now he has another one to sing in his choir. Cherish the memories and know he is in a better place. Praying for you daily. Blessings.
As Christians, losing a loved one who has suffered with Alzheimer's is truly a mixed blessing. You truly do grieve their loss before their death, and yet you grieve again when the time comes to bury their body, while at the same time rejoicing that they are once again whole. How comforting that we do not grieve like those who have no hope!
Continuing to walk this road with you from afar! Hugs.
God's promises are true. I have lost both of my parents but I know that I will see them again one day. Always keep the special memories close to your heart because no one can take those away from you. I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this very difficult time. Love & Prayers~~Katie
when my Pop passed i felt an empty hole and a sense of peace and closure in one mess of emotions. Consequently, I know both my mom and pop are with me…in my heart and soul. Really, those you love don't really die..their spirits just soar to a more perfect place!

Yes, he is walking the streets of gold as are my mom and dad. It is still hard for us – we miss our loved ones so. Praying for you and your family. Sometimes the grandkids are the ones hardest hit it seems.
