I haven’t written funny things my Dad has said lately (he’s suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease) because, well, the funny moments are becoming increasingly rare. Dad continues a gradual slip into, hmmm, let’s call it a second childhood. Or maybe toddlerhood? But this conversation is one I’ll always remember!
Dad: “So when is that um, ur, uh?”
Suzanne: “My book?”
(Note to reader: I’m getting good at figuring out what Dad is trying to say so I can supply the right words.)
Dad: “Yes! When?”
Suzanne: “End of June.”
Dad: “I might have to buy a copy.”
Suzanne: “Maybe I could have the author sign it for you.”
Long silence.
Then Dad burst out laughing.
Suzanne,
I know this is a hard time for your family, and here you are, finding the nugget of humor in it…you set such a godly example for me. Thanks.
