On the day after Christmas, my sister brought my dad over for a big family get together. Dad did very well considering there were seventeen people and a lot of noisy, happy children.

As the afternoon wore on, Dad had enough and was ready to go.

So as my husband (Steve) was putting Dad in the passenger seat of my brother’s car to return to his facility, Steve noticed a bunch of empty Starbuck cups. He reached over to throw them out and Dad got quite irritated with him.

Dad likes to collect empty paper cups. No harm in that, other than his room gets filled up with junk. Still, the cups were dirty and needed to be tossed, so Steve persisted.

I’m not sure what was running through Dad’s head, or what he was trying to say, but what came out (with a fierce scowl) was: “Well, you ought to be ashamed of yourself!”
