During my book tour through the south east, I had the opportunity to stop by the Billy Graham Library. One of the most touching parts was visiting the burial place of Ruth Bell Graham. A spot is saved next to her for Billy, who is in his mid-nineties and afflicted by Parkinson’s disease.
She chose her epitaph years ago, and it said so much—about her humor, her strength of character, her grace in living . . . . and in dying.
Have you ever thought of what you’d like your own epitaph to say?

Very touching post.
I hope it would say, I tried to serve my God everyday but I am grateful for His Grace every day I failed.
Love that, Jackie McNutt! I’m right there with you.
Mine would say: ” She lived, she died, she did it her way,—-the world goes on”
Hi Phyllis! Yup…the world goes on…but you would be missed. Warmly, Suzanne
Hi! This is my 1st comment here so I just wanted to give a quick shout out and say I genuinely enjoy reading your blog posts.
Can you suggest any other blogs/websites/forums that cover the same subjects?
Thank you!
I already have my headstone (due to the untimely death of my oldest son, almost 4 yrs ago) & it says:
“IN HIS PRESENCE”
Barb–I love that. Really, really love that. What a good reminder to us all. So sorry about your son’s passing. Thank you for sharing from your heart. Warmly, Suzanne
I like what Barb said. “In His Presence” says it all.
Hi Kathie! I so agree! Suzanne
Great post! My epitaph would read, ” If in this life I have brought a smile to one’s face, then I have done something.”
