I have a question for you . . . if you could create a perfect day for yourself, what would you do?

I think I’d fill it with all my favorite-yet-ordinary things.

Morning: Good, productive writing hours in the quiet of the morning.

Mid-day: A couple sets of tennis with my friends. Some time in the garden with my silly dogs (who have taken to pulling and eating carrots from the carrot bed!).

Mid-afternoon: A long walk with those dogs–either using the time to catch up with a friend (my friend Kathy and I live an hour apart and schedule our walks for talk-on-the-phone times) or listening to sermon podcasts (love Tim Keller and Bill Hybels and Jon Ortberg).

Late afternoon: FaceTime my little grandchildren, just up from their naps (they like to peer into the phone as if they can climb into it. Alice in Wonderland-ish). Then dinner with my husband at our local Mexican restaurant. We order the same thing each time. The waiters don’t even ask what we want anymore.

Evening: Wrap up the day with a good book . . . and I’m set!
Just an ordinary, wonderful day.
