As the temperatures hit the triple digits the last few days, my family headed to the cool and refreshing movie theatres.
Saw License to Wed, which could have been so, so, so much better with just a few tweaks. It’s actually a good premise. The minister (Robin Williams) is trying to get engaged couples to see past the glow of new love to understand the real person they are planning to marry. But it missed the mark a number of times–underdeveloped characters, predictable humor. Too bad! If only Hollywood would have called to ask for my opinion.
The next day, we saw Ratatouille. It was about thirty minutes too long, but very amusing and the animation techniques were not-to-be-believed. I thought they blew it with the voices–Remy and Emil sounded too old, so do Linguini. Their behavior and body language placed them as late teens to early twenties, but their voices were grown men.
My family thinks I ruin movies by looking too deeply at them.
Would I recommend seeing them? If your local temperature soar to 100+…go for it!
