Wiseman - Litfuse Interview with a Character - Tate

Tate Webber look-alive

What is the most interesting thing about you?

I tend to see myself as an average guy, but my entire life has revolved around playing the piano. They told my mom when I was a kid that I was a ‘prodigy’ lol. She uses that word a lot…gotta love her.

Piano teacher. I teach out of my house, mostly kids.

What three words would you use to describe yourself?

Passionate (about all things that have to do with music), loving (for a guy, I think I tend to love deeply), and loyal.

What do you do for fun?

I love to spend time with my girlfriend—Mallory—but due to some unforeseen circumstances, I’ve been keeping a ten-year-old kid named Verdell. He’s no relation to me, we have little in common…except we both like to ride go-carts at the track.

Share a favorite childhood memory:

When my uncle gave me a baby grand piano.

What is your life motto or goal?

To spend the rest of my life with Mallory, but she’s not ready to make that jump yet.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

Sometimes I can be a bit prejudice. It’s wrong, and I would never be mean to anyone. But ever since 9-11…I get nervous around foreigners, even though they are probably just as nervous around me.

Favorite food:

It would be a toss up between Mallory’s lasagna and my mother’s chicken enchiladas.

What is the most important thing to you?

My relationship with God.

The Promise

The Promise Cover PKMallory’s search for happiness leads her to a faraway place. There she finds heartache, betrayal—and danger.

Mallory Hammond is determined that no one will stand in the way of her goal—to save a life. She had that chance years ago, and she failed to take it, leaving her adrift and in search of the real meaning of her life. Finally, she meets a man online from a volatile corner of the world who offers her the chance to find that purpose. But she will have to leave everyone she loves behind in order to take it.

Tate Webber has loved Mallory for many years. He understands that Mallory will never be happy with him until her deepest heart’s desire is satisfied. When Mallory decides to travel across the world to fulfi ll her dreams, Tate begs her not to go but tries to give her the space she needs. Mallory embarks on her dangerous journey only to discover how swiftly and easily promises can be broken. And Mallory can only pray that she will make it out alive.

Inspired by actual events, The Promise is a riveting love story that asks the question: how far will we go for love?

  1. Sounds like a must read. This book reminds me of an old movie that Sally Fields starred in. Not Without My Daughter. The woman had met a Islamic man who was a doctor over here in the U.S. They married and had a daughter. All was fine till she went to visit his country with her daughter and husband. She found her self in a bad situation when her husband became a different man and decided to stay in his country and refused to allow her to return home with her daughter.
Would love to win a copy of this book.
