HatcherWhat is the smartest writing advice you ever got?

To write every day.

What was your biggest break?

Discovering my wonderful agent, Natasha Kern. We have been working together over 24 years now. When I first signed with her, I was still working a full-time job and writing my books evenings and weekends. Six months later I quit my job in order to write full time, and I have been at it ever since.

I’m inspired by…

Beautiful sights in nature and beautiful music.

My great adventure has been…

Trying to live life to the fullest each and every day and to love those who God puts into my path.

If I could go anywhere, it would be…

Ireland. That is the first thing on my bucket list, and I better hurry up because the clock is ticking.

If you have only…an hour…

…read a great novel.

Describe yourself in one word

Low-maintenance. (A hyphen makes it one word, right?)

If your house were on fire, what one thing would you save?

Not counting anything living (husband, dog, cat), the first thing would be my computer. It holds all of my photos and lots of other important pieces of my life.

What has been your most surreal, “pinch-me-I’m-dreaming” moment so far?A Promise Kept pk

The moment I realized the way God had saved my marriage (which is the inspiration for my novel, A Promise Kept).

What drives you to succeed?

I firmly believe my responsibility as a Christian is to find out what the will of God is for my life and then to do it for all I am worth until He takes me home to heaven or until He calls me to do something else. God called me to write fiction that would honor Him, so that’s what I try to do to the best of my ability.

Best Surprise…

Becoming a grandmother. Who knew it would be even better than being a mom, which I already thought was the best thing ever?

Best Saturday Afternoon Read…

Any novel by Francine Rivers or Liz Curtis Higgs or … (the list is very, very long)

Best Way to Break a Sweat…

On the treadmill while streaming a show on Netflix or Amazon Prime with three fans blowing on me (I truly hate to sweat!!!)

Best Style Icon…

Idaho cowgirls in their jeans and boots.

Best Time-Waster…

Words with Friends on my iPhone or Free Cell on my laptop

Best Indulgence…

Just about anything on the menu at the Cheesecake Factory

Best Advice…

And He said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’” Matthew 22:37 (NASB95)

I love all of my grandchildren(12) and great-grandchildren(19) very, very much, but better than being a mother? Not sure I can agree with that. I became a mother at 16 and can’t even explain the excitement and thrill of the words, I am a Mother. Of course I’ve been excited with the birth of each of the grandbabies, but without being a Mother, I would never have been a grandmother. I thank GOD for them each. % million books?
