Friday Fun | In My Free Time

When I’m not writing, researching, or editing, I play tennis a couple of times a week, and I love to garden and cook! I’m not great at any of those hobbies, but I love doing them. The other hobby that takes up a lot of my spare time is raising puppies for Guide Dogs for the Blind. They’re like potato chips . . . you can’t stop at one.

What do you love doing in your free time, away from your day job?

I’ll be giving away a copy of  Amish Values for Your Family to one person who does the following (and let me know in a comment):

  1. That you’ve signed up for my blog
  2. And answered the above question

I’ll announce the winner next Friday! Good luck.

Speaking of winners, the winner of the last Friday Fun is Shelia Hall! Please email your mailing address to info {at} suzannewoodsfisher {dot} com to claim your prize!

About Suzanne

Suzanne Woods Fisher writes bestselling, award winning fiction and non-fiction books about the Old Order Amish for Revell Books. Her interest in the Plain People began with her Old Order German Baptist grandfather, raised in Franklin County, Pennsylvania. Suzanne's app, Amish Wisdom, delivers a daily Amish proverb to your phone or iPad. She writes a bi-monthly column for Christian Post and Cooking & Such magazine. She lives with her family in California and raises puppies for Guide Dogs for the Blind. To Suzanne's way of thinking, you can't take life too seriously when a puppy is running through your house with someone's underwear in its mouth.

I like to swim and try to go every morning. Oh, change that to love to swim.

I like to knit. I like to read, of course. I collect old children’s books. And, I like to read old children’s series books like Judy Bolton, Cherry Ames, Nancy Drew, the Dana Girls, Vicki Barr and on and on and on. I like the boys series as well. I like the original versions of the stories.

I like to go to the art movie theater near me. I especially love seeing the plays that are beamed over from London by the National Theatre. Oh, I have a ticket for Richard II in November–very exciting. I also got tickets for 3-D Swan Lake and Nutcraker from St. Petersburg to see in December.

This week I saw there a short film directed by Bebe Neuwirth with discussion with her afterwards that was great fun. She is so funny. I also saw Live from Red Square which was two Russian opera singers–extremely theatrical.

Next week I am going to see 3D Creature from the Black Lagoon for a before Halloween treat! Won’t I have fun!

I joined my churches prayer blanket ministry to learn how to make blankets. And many evenings we will sit out on the deck and watch nature and just share.
