Mary will be talking about her new series, The New Beginning series, and filling us in on what’s new in her life. Then during the second half of the show, we’ll meet author Jenny Miller. Jenny is a mother of three children with the same genetic disorder. She shares her story in her book, Life is a Gift, and other lessons I’m learning from my daughters. Jenny’s gentle spirit and peace is evident as she shares how joy and sorrow have been like train tracks in her life. “They run together. Life is a combination of both”. Tune in Thusday at 5pm Eastern.

More about Mary: Mary Ellis grew up close to the eastern Ohio Amish community, Geauga County, where her parentsoften took her to farmer’s markets and woodworking fairs. She loved their peaceful, agrarian lifestyle, their respect for the land, and their strong sense of Christian community.

She and her husband now live close to the largest population of Amish in the country–a four-county area in central Ohio. They often take weekend trips to purchase produce, meet Amish families, and enjoy a simpler way of life.

Mary enjoys reading, traveling, gardening, bicycling and swimming. But her favorite pasttime is snorkeling, which she seldom gets to do living in Ohio. She is a former middle school teacher and a former saleswoman for the world’s best chocolate company. Now she writes full-time and wonders why her house is still dusty and her garden has so many weeds. She is currently working on the New Beginnings series. Book 1-Living in Harmony is set in Maine and released in August. Book 2-Love Comes to Paradise is set in Missouri and will release in Feb 2013. Book 3-A Little Bit of Paradise is set in Kentucky and will release in July of 2013.

More about Living in Harmony: Living in Harmony is the first book in bestselling author Mary Ellis’s New Beginnings series. It’s about fresh starts and love…and how faith in God and His perfect plan for our lives provides us with the peace and joy we desire.

Amy King–young, engaged, and Amish–faces difficult challenges in her life when she suddenly loses both of her parents in a house fire. Her fiancé, John Detweiler, persuades her and her sister Nora to leave Lancaster County and make a new beginning with him in Harmony, Maine, where he has relatives who can help the women in their time of need.

John’s brother Thomas and sister-in-law Sally readily open their home to the three newcomers. Wise beyond his years, Thomas, a minister in the district, refuses to marry Amy and John upon their arrival, suggesting instead a period of adjustment and counseling. During this time Amy discovers an aunt who was shunned. She wishes to reconnect with her, but this puts a strain on her relationship with John.

Can John and Amy find a way to live in happily in Harmony before making a lifetime commitment to one another?

More about Jenny Miller: Jenny Miller lives in a little log cabin in the beautiful mountains of Colorado, along with her husband Erv and their daughters Courtney and Brooklyn.  She is passionate about connecting with other women, writing from her heart, and finding beauty in the ordinary.  She enjoys her role of wife and mommy, as well as cooking, decorating and teaching Sunday School.  More than anything, she longs for God to use the story of her life to shine hope into the lives of others.

More about Life is a Gift: Jenny counted her newborn’s fingers and toes, amazed anew at God’s tremendous gift of life-but the gift did not turn out as she hoped. Her precious baby girl, the fulfillment of her childhood dreams, had serious medical problems. As her dreams crumbled around her, Jenny wrestled with the God of her youth-a God she knew only as secure, faithful, and loving. Now her prayers rang hollow, and God seemed unpredictable, confusing, and distant. Didn’t He see tears? In this tender and deeply personal story of dashed hopes and broken dreams, Jenny shares in vivid detail her struggle to accept the journey God chose for her journey of faith through which she reluctantly embraced the lessons God had set before her. Through brokenness, she gained peace, comfort, even joy and a far deeper understanding that life-all life-is a gift from God.
