More about Mary Ann Kinsinger: Mary Ann is the gentle voice behind the very popular blog, A Joyful Chaos. Mary Ann Kinsinger lives with her husband and three children in the beautiful Appalachian mountains in southwestern PA…only a few miles from the house where she grew up in an Amish family. Mary Ann has enjoyed writing from a very young age and has had some of her work published in magazines. She is a busy mother and enjoys spending time with her family, reading, crafts, cooking, and for the past year blogging… where she is chronicling her journey from a happy little Amish girl to where she is today.

More about Life with Lily:

Love this note from an early reader:

“…We got our copy of Life with Lily and it’s being very well read at our house. My ten year old daughter (who is not a reader at all) has been found in corners, in her room – even under the table at one point – all reading this book. She loves it! 🙂 I’m so glad you sent it our way. She keeps thanking me for getting it for her.” –Lori, Radiant Lit

For a child, every day is a thing of wonder. And for six-year-old Lily Lapp, every day is a new opportunity for blessings, laughter, family, and a touch of mischief. As she explores her world, goes to school, spends time with her family, and gets into a bit of trouble with her friends, Lily learns what it means to be Amish and what it means to grow up. From getting a new teacher to welcoming a new sibling, Lily’s life is always full of adventure.

The first of four charming novels that chronicle the gentle way of the Amish through the eyes of a young girl, Life with Lily gives children ages 8-12 a fascinating glimpse into the life of the Amish–and lots of fun and laughter along the way. It combines the real-life stories of growing up Amish from Mary Ann Kinsinger and the bestselling writing of Amish fiction and nonfiction author Suzanne Woods Fisher. With charming illustrations throughout, this series is sure to capture the hearts of readers young and old.

About Suzanne

Suzanne Woods Fisher writes bestselling, award winning fiction and non-fiction books about the Old Order Amish for Revell Books. Her interest in the Plain People began with her Old Order German Baptist grandfather, raised in Franklin County, Pennsylvania. Suzanne's app, Amish Wisdom, delivers a daily Amish proverb to your phone or iPad. She writes a bi-monthly column for Christian Post and Cooking & Such magazine. She lives with her family in California and raises puppies for Guide Dogs for the Blind. To Suzanne's way of thinking, you can't take life too seriously when a puppy is running through your house with someone's underwear in its mouth.

  1. Kathie from CA says:

My granddaughter is struggling with her reading. I think this would be the perfect book to motivate her.

  2. Linda Dietz says:

Would love to win this for a friend whose daughter reads at “warp” speed. She is only 8 but reads on a much higher level..thus creating the problem of age appropriate books. This would be perfect for Samantha!

  3. felecia says:

This sounds great. I have never read an Amish book that is written through the eyes of a young girl.
