10 Things to Do for Planet Earth

“We must not, in trying to think about how we can make a big difference, ignore the small daily differences we can make which, over time, add up to big differences that we often cannot foresee.”

~ Marian Wright Edelman

Here are some easy-to-incorporate tips to celebrate Earth Day this year and hopefully become daily habits of living green.

Buy local product at a Farmer’s Market.
Replace light bulbs with energy efficient bulbs.
Open the windows (in your house and the car) and get fresh air instead of running the A/C.
Don’t use paper or plastic bags for the month.
Sign up for a beach day clean-up.
If you don’t live near the beach, clean-up a local park.
Plant a tree. (Arbor Day is April 27)
Plant a garden.
Add flowers that attract bees, such as lavender.
Butterflies and hummingbirds are attracted to dogwoods, zinnias or delicious berry plants.
Do a little spring cleaning! Clean out a closet and give extra clothes to those in need.
Ride your bike to work or to shop.
Carpool.
Hang out clothes on a clothesline.
Recycle cans and bottles and paper.
Start a compost for your kitchen scraps.
