It’s Official!

The contract has been signed and returned…so I feel ready to share some great news! I’ve received a contract for a non-fiction book, Amish Peace in an English Life (working title), by Revell/Baker Books.

I’ve already spent a week back in Lancaster County, visiting the area, gathering material and meeting with Amish families through a very helpful contact.

One of my goals as a writer was to start small, with a small publisher (Vintage with Copper Star and Copper Fire…oh, Grit for the Oyster, too), with the hopes of catching the interest of a big publisher. (With help from my agent, I should add.)

It worked!

Baker is a highly respected publisher and a delight to work with, I’ve already discovered. They’re the publishers of 90 Minutes in Heaven by Don Piper (NY Times Bestseller List).

The Amish Peace manuscript isn’t due until 2009, and the book won’t be released until 2010.

So…now my new goal is to deliver!

About Suzanne

Suzanne Woods Fisher writes bestselling, award winning fiction and non-fiction books about the Old Order Amish for Revell Books. Her interest in the Plain People began with her Old Order German Baptist grandfather, raised in Franklin County, Pennsylvania. Suzanne's app, Amish Wisdom, delivers a daily Amish proverb to your phone or iPad. She writes a bi-monthly column for Christian Post and Cooking & Such magazine. She lives with her family in California and raises puppies for Guide Dogs for the Blind. To Suzanne's way of thinking, you can't take life too seriously when a puppy is running through your house with someone's underwear in its mouth.
