On the Other Side of a Book Release

It’s six days now after the release of Copper Star and eight days before my daughter’s wedding…a rather jam-packed time of life in which every hour feels billable.

If I’m working on the book (or its sequel), I am neglecting wedding details.

If I’m working on the wedding…well, you get the picture.

My children have pointed out, many, many times, that I keep repeating myself and can’t remember anything.

That is a scary thought when one’s father is suffering from Alzheimer’s! Hopefully, my short-term memory will return within a few weeks.

However, in the meantime, there’s a Bible verse that I have scribbled on an index card and tucked in my pocket to look at a number of times a day. It’s my very effective coping strategy for moments that feel overwhelming and a little out of control:

“You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you” (Isaiah 26:3).

Deep breath. All is well.
